Upcoming SCHADS Changes

Broken Shift:

The Rule

Broken shift now applies an allowance per broken shift. A broken shift is defined as a shift with one or more breaks (that aren’t meal breaks) within a 12-hour period.

The allowances are as follows: 1.7% of the standard rate per broken shift, or 2.25% for the second broken shift in the span of 12 hours.

Expected Changes to Flowlogic

Datanova will be adding two new allowance types, one for the first broken shift and another for the second that will be applied when exporting timesheets/rosters.

These will work off the already existing settings under:

Roster -> Roster Rules -> Minimum Break Broken-Shifts

Roster -> Roster Rules -> Process Broken-Shift rule after span

Target Availability for Customer Testing: Mid to End May 2022

Working outside of hours (Remote work)

The Rule

Work that requires employees to be paid for time spent working remotely outside their ordinary hours will be entitled to a minimum payment for these shifts.

The time above includes, but is not limited to, phone calls, emergencies, short notice roster changes etc.

These payments scale from 15 mins of pay all the way to 275% of the min rate.
More information on these rates can be found at 25.10 (c) of the SCHADS award.

Expected Changes to Flowlogic

Datanova will add a min value to the allowances and have allowances ‘attached’ to a specific rate (this would allow allowances to be based on a period of the day).

Target Availability for Customer Testing: Early June 2022
